Introduction

  • Getting to know your body through sensations
  • Principles of asana alignment
  • Developing a more precise awareness

Content

  • Bones – the pathway of weight (skull to feet, and arms to spine)
  • How muscles move bones to carry weight

  • Body reading
  • Collapsed, yielding, propped
  • Hypo and hyper extension

  • Using resistance as feedback
  • Wisdom of applying props, wall, and partner
  • A study of muscles – which is best: under toned, toned, or hyper toned?
  • Recruitment of muscles to overcome resistance (compensation)

  • Sun and Moon energy interplay (understanding partner roles)
  • Breath dynamics with partner
  • Exercises in partner – sensing, synchronisation, and communication

  • Working with props as preparation
  • Partner movements and weight shifting
  • Practice with wisdom, creativity, and compassion

Practicum and Evaluation

Course participants are required to do class observations and practicum to graduate from the course.

Course participants will be guided through their assignments preparation and presentations throughout the course.
